Twenty-seven Sammies spanning five decades and 10 chapters hoisted a glass to toast Sammy Tri-State last night at Pando 39.
We had the upper bar to ourselves to mix and mingle. There was a good mix of regulars and new faces. Tri-State welcomed two new members who paid their dues at the door.
Old friends reconnected, and new friends were made. Food was free and so was the raffle. SUNYs Buffalo and Stonybrook were heavily represented, but as usual, we had good chapter diversity from 8 other chapters.
Congrats to raffle winners Len Zimmerman, Jeff Beal and Scott Bloom. Len won the purple SAM big gulp tumbler (courtesy SAM National Properties), Jeff won the coveted golf shirt, and Scott won the Sammy Tri-State cinch sack backpack (both courtesy Tri-State).
Runners-up and new members got SAM-branded USB chargers (courtesy Sigma Alpha Mu Foundation).
If you didn't win the raffle, you can buy the golf shirt and cinch sack on our website at https://www.samtristate.com/shop or try your luck at our next happy hour and raffle May 13th at Longshots Bar / Aqueduct Racetrack https://www.samtristate.com/post/sammy-tri-state-day-at-the-races
The party was from 6 til 8pm on paper, but some arrived early and most stayed late (past 11pm before moving it on down the road to the Soul in The Horn Party at Virgin Hotel's Everdene Library). Sammies love a good party!
Many thanks to:
Aaron Girson and Ken Schneider from the Foundation and National Properties respectively for the swag donations.
Tony Panebianco and his Events Committee for all the planning and heavy lifting before and during the event
"Thanks for a good night. Sammy Tri-State is fun," reports a satisfied member.
