Holiday Blessings at the Brooklyn Bank

Updated: Nov 26

Sammy Tri-Stater Fra Michael Kawochka helped distribute 500 turkeys with all the fixins in time for Thanksgiving at the Brooklyn Bank in Bedford Stuyvesant. Kawochka serves on the advisory board of the Daniel Gale Foundation, one of the many regular donor supporters of the Brooklyn Bank. Sammy TriState has also joined this year's donor list with a donation to the Brooklyn Bank.

Joining him were wife Sarah Leventer, daughter Helen and co-workers from his Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty office. They were among the army of volunteers who regularly support this neighborhood event.

Regulars include more than half the Divine Nine: Omega Psi Phi, Kappa Alpha Psi, Zeta Phi Beta, and Delta Sigma Theta. Brooklyn Bank CEO Jude Bernard brought all his Phi Beta Sigma brothers.

City Councilman Chi Osse secured city funding and was on hand to thank the volunteers.

Ed from Blossoms restaurant fed the staff and volunteers for the 8th year in a row.

People were lined up around the block since 6am in anticipation of a nutritious blessing and nobody left without.

Located in a former bank building, the Brooklyn Bank’s mission is to give communities of color the tools and education they need to achieve financial independence.

No longer a bank in the traditional sense, but rather a vault of knowledge and resources -- where information and resources can be deposited and withdrawn freely.

BKBNK INC is a non-profit organization focused on providing underserved individuals of color the tools and education required to secure financial independence to close the wealth gap. They empower people through education, advocacy, and community service by giving them access to financial literacy programs.

Since its inception, BKBNK INC has been producing events for the community on wealth building and financial literacy at no charge to its constituents. In 2021 alone, they welcomed 10,000+ people through various workshops/seminars, along with other giveaways.

The Daniel Gale Charitable Foundation supports community endeavors and improves the lives of those living on Long Island and in the five boroughs of New York City through the collective efforts of its volunteers and the generosity of its donors.
