Sammy Summer Happy Hour Always a Hit!

Updated: Aug 15

The Sammy Tri-State Summer Happy Hour was again enthusiastically received by our membership. Attendance by 21 brothers from 13 chapters spanning their forties to eighties proves that Sigma Alpha Mu is a lifetime deal and not just the four best years of your life!

One of the happy hallmarks of this club is that guys from different decades and chapters have organically become fast friends over the years.

Several Sammies made this two in a row with back-to-back happy-hour appearances.

Elder statesmen Bernard Kenner, Jeff Beal, and Uncle Freddie Komson clocked in to represent our sterling-silver demographic. Mrs Beal and Mrs Komson dropped the boys off at the bar before heading out for a ladies' night of their own. Sometimes the best way to engineer a hall pass from the wife is to give her one of her own and make it seem like her idea. Reciprocity begets generosity and vice versa.

Steve Schneider welcomed the fun, positive vibes of this event after the recent memorial service for Fra Jason Milius, his chapter's latest addition to Chapter Eternal.

Oscar Arias was conspicuously absent, despite petitions and appeals from your humble narrator. He gets the Gas Face. Sorry, Oscar.

The happy hour was held at Spring Rock Golf Center in New Hyde Park. Mini golf and the driving range were activity options, but we were having such a good time we never left the bar.

Thanks to Fra Anthony Berti for getting the pre-party started with a few rounds and platters. Scott Bloom raided the humidor and broke out cigars for the boys. The early birds were the happy beneficiaries.

Future fall events include our annual family BBQ Saturday 9/19/25 at Christopher Morley Park;   Business Dinners on 9/29 and 11/17; and Fall Happy Hour TBA in midtown Manhattan. Mark your calendars as we look forward to seeing you.

We are also talking about Pickleball, Backgammon night and a tailgate at a Rutgers Football game -- reply to SammyTriSate (at) Gmail (dot) com with your level of interest.

Got an idea for a fun social event? Get involved with our membership and events committees and we'll make it happen.

Like all Sammy TriState committees, the events team is staffed 100% by unpaid volunteers. Your dues support our programming. We budget our events to break even (with a minor surplus or loss).
